Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer says he believes Pep Guardiola will remain at the club and honour a contract that expires in 2016.
Guardiola has been the subject of speculation he may depart the Allianz Arena, particularly in light of alleged interest from Manchester City, yet Bayern Honorary President Beckenbauer feels he will still be with the Bavarians next year.
However, he did not rule out the possibility that Jurgen Klopp, who last week announced he will be leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season, could eventually replace the former Barcelona boss.
“I can’t imagine that Guardiola would leave Bayern. He likes Munich and has had success with the team, while he knows he could also have more in the future,” Beckenbauer told Sky Sports Germany.
“Even so, I could imagine Klopp as his successor. When I was President we often spoke about him and I think he’d fit in well at Bayern.
“The question is how long will Guardiola be in Munich. I hope it’s for a long time but Klopp would be considered,” he admitted.
