Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal has denied biting or attempting to bite Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic.
The players were involved in an altercation during the goalless draw in the Champions League first leg at Vicente Calderon and Carvajal appeared to throw a punch at Mandzukic.
But television pictures suggest Carvajal went even further and attempted to bite the Croatia international, leading the Madrid man to issue a denial over Twitter.
“I saw after the game that I’m accused of biting an opposing player,” his message began.
“Let me make clear that I have not bitten anyone, or attempted to do so.”
