Iker Casillas says Real Madrid are ‘eager’ to become the first club in the Champions League era to defend their European crown this season.
Los Blancos’ fulfilled their long-running pursuit of La Decima last May as they won Europe’s elite club competition for a 10th time, defeating Atletico Madrid 4-1 after extra time in the final.
“I expect a cracking end to the season, but we have to apply pressure on our rivals and hope they slip up,” the goalkeeper said at a promotional event on Friday.
“We’ve struggled [against Atletico Madrid this season] but we’re eager to lift [the Champions League] again after winning it in Lisbon last year.
“We’re very excited [about making this year’s final in Berlin]. You think a lot about what can happen, but the game never turns out like you expected.”
