Victor Fernandez believed his Deportivo la Coruna team did enough to take all three points from the scoreless draw with Espanyol at Riazor.
Depor’s winless run reached six games following the stalemate with Los Pericos and they now lie just one point above the relegation zone, although Victor felt they should now be further up the table.
“The game was slightly tilted in our favour in terms of domination, attacking intent and getting into the box,” he told reporters.
“We had more intention of winning the match, at least for 80 minutes, but we lacked composure and they made the final few moments a long time. But we gave our all and did enough to win, yet in the end we’ve had to settle for a draw.
“The last few minutes were not the best scenario for our players because they were gripped by the pressure and looked nervous, while we also had to suffer in defence.”
With just 10 La Liga games remaining and his team on 26 points, Victor refused to speculate on what total might be enough to ensure top-flight safety.
“I’m not a mathematician and don’t use a calculator. We just need to live day-to-day and focus on each game,” he asserted.
