Marcelo: ‘Madrid will keep fighting’

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has promised the fans that the team will keep fighting to the end despite the 2-1 Clasico defeat to Barcelona.

Although he acknowledged that getting beat is never nice, Marcelo insists it has still not been a bad year for Los Blancos.

“It’s a very hard defeat to accept but we’ll continue to fight,” declared the Brazilian to reporters.

“We failed at two key plays but we’ll take away the positives. We were better in some parts of the match but at other times they were superior. We are going to analyse where we went wrong and attempt to correct it.

“It was a crucial game but we are only four points behind and have to be happy with the good things we did, playing well and keeping the ball.

“We have not lost the League because there are still games to go and we’ll fight to the end of the season.

“There are some tough fixtures coming up in La Liga and the Champions League but we are not going to give in.

“We’ve not had a bad year, it’s just that the year before was incredible and we did some amazing things.

“There are streaks in football and today we saw an improved Madrid,” he concluded.
