Diego Simeone expressed his contentment with Atletico Madrid’s “good point against a direct rival” on Sunday after they drew 0-0 with Sevilla in La Liga.
Los Colchoneros dropped more points in their title defence and extended their goalless run away from home to three matches as a result of their stalemate at Sanchez Pizjuan, but El Cholo was quick to draw positives from his side’s performance.
“It was a good point against a direct rival,” he said after the game.
“I wasn’t wrong when I said Sevilla would fight for European places.
“It was a vibrant match, which involved two hard-working teams. I loved the effort of the 22 [players] who played.
“We need players like [Fernando Torres], who enter the pitch with enthusiasm and understand that no-one is more important than the team or the Coach.
“[Koke’s return from injury] enhanced our passing game.”
