Former Atletico Madrid winger Paulo Futre has claimed that Jorge Jesus would be a serious candidate to replace Luis Enrique at Barcelona.
The Asturian Coach’s long-term future with the Catalans appeared to be doubt earlier in the season after a troubled start to his reign, but he has since turned around the club’s fortunes.
Nevertheless, Futre is adamant that former President Joan Laporta will return to Barca in the summer and could use his friendship with super-agent Jorge Mendes to bring the Benfica boss with him.
“I can see Jorge [Jesus] at Barcelona. It all depends on what Luis Enrique achieves, but even winning La Liga may not be enough,” he told CMTV.
“It also depends on what [Joan Laporta and Jorge Mendes] do, but if for some reason Luis Enrique doesn’t stay then Barcelona is ideal for Jesus because Laporte, a great friend of Mendes, will be there.”
