Atletico Madrid midfielder Cristian ‘Cebolla’ Rodriguez has travelled to Italy to finalise his loan move to Serie A outfit Parma.
The Uruguayan, who has played just 286 minutes in 11 games for Diego Simeone’s men this season, the fewest of the whole Atleti first-team squad, has started twice with only Alessio Cerci, now on loan at Milan, having featured less.
Both came in the Copa del Rey games with L’Hospitalet, when Simeone rested most of his first choice players, and Rodriguez is expected to go on loan to Parma until the end of the season.
However, boss Simeone is reluctant to see him leave and praised him for his professionalism during his time at the Vicente Calderon.
“I’m open to any situation that can occur in the transfer market but I can’t say anything about Cristian as nothing has been said officially.
“He’s someone we’d like to keep and who has always conducted himself properly. He’s a great professional,” the Argentine told Marca.
Rodriguez, 29, arrived at the Vicente Calderon in May 2012 after being released by Porto.
