Gaizka Garitano praised Raul Albentosa’s professionalism following Eibar’s 2-1 victory over Getafe, amidst reports the defender is set to join Derby County.
The 26-year-old appears to be closing in on a move to the Championship side, but the Coach insisted he was in the dark about a transfer on Saturday, instead focusing his attentions on yet another Armeros victory.
“I know nothing [about the Albentosa deal]. He’s always first to turn up in training, and you all saw the match he had,” he said after the game.
“It says a lot about his professionalism, both as a player and a person. We don’t want anyone to leave.
“Sometimes we play well, others not so much, but the team never relax. They’re always well-prepared and focused on the task at hand.
“It’s perhaps what sets us apart from other teams. Others sometimes have bad games or have a bad half-hour, but we’re always on the ball and growing in confidence.
“In the two Cup games, Getafe beat us easily, and if we didn’t give more [this time around], they have very good players who can do damage.
“We had to perform very intensely, and I’m very happy with the work we did. Winning without suffering in La Liga was unthinkable for us.
“I was hoping to sit quietly in the dugout for the last few minutes, but it weren’t the case. It was a close and difficult game.”
