Unai Emery voiced his relief at seeing Sevilla emerge with a 2-0 victory at Almeria on Sunday. “They were better than us on occasions.”
The Andalucians regained their grip on fourth place in La Liga thanks to goals from Vicente Iborra and Jorge Coke at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos and Valencia’s failure to beat Celta Vigo.
“It was a difficult and even game against tough opponents. They were better than us on occasions,” the Coach said.
“Almeria have less points than they deserve this season but won two of their last three games by playing great football. They played [against us] to win.
“I expected a tight, highly-charged game, and we had to take our chances and compete for 90 minutes if we wanted to win.
“Edgar and Hemed created us problems, as did Corona when he had the ball.
“We know how to suffer. We forced them as far away from our box as possible. Once we settled down, we went for them.
“The first half was more even, with very few options going forward, but we approached their box more and had more chances in the second, all while maintaining our capacity for suffering.
“Bacca scores a lot of goals and works hard. I like the manner in which he looks for the ball and tracks back. He had a good game.
“When he left the pitch, Kevin Gameiro also had his moment. His intentions were what made me happiest, despite his failure to score.
“For now I don’t care [about his failure to score] because the goals will come if he keeps this attitude up.”
