Marcelo pointed the finger at Real Madrid’s inability to deal with set-pieces as the reason for their defeat to Atletico Madrid.
The champions claimed the advantage in the two-legged Copa del Rey tie through a Raul Garcia penalty and a Jose Gimenez header, the full-back however insisting the fixture isn’t yet over.
“The result is very difficult to overcome. We started well but set-pieces again…” he said, according to AS.
“There are 90 minutes and we will fight on our field and attempt to overcome it. There is another leg and it’s at our place. Atletico played on their pitch and ours is second.
“Let’s see what the Coach tells us to counter their football. Their approach is just to get the ball forward.
“We’ve lost two straight games and you can’t do that at Madrid. We must see what went wrong so it doesn’t happen again.”
