Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed it has been a fantastic season at Real Madrid and ‘La Decima’ had been one of the special moments.
The Portuguese was speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, where he picked up the Best Player of the Year prize, and mentioned it might be a good sign for the coming Ballon d’Or award.
“I want to say thanks to the people at Real Madrid, the players, the Coach, because we had a fantastic season, won four trophies and were one of the best sides in the world,” Ronaldo told the audience.
“La Decima was one of the special moments of the season as Real Madrid had been chasing it for a long time.
“To win this award is a great pleasure and I’m very proud. I hope it’s a good sign [for the Ballon d’Or] but I’m not worried about it. The people who vote have already done so and this is a trophy for dedication and hard work.”
The 29-year-old insisted he was not under any pressure to continue picking up individual awards.
“I don’t have any pressure because these things come naturally to me. I don’t have anything to prove and my football talks for me on the pitch.
“I’m happy and I do what I like doing, which is playing football, scoring goals, assisting and helping show we are one of the best teams in the world.
“We play for the fans so thanks to them for always supporting me. I’ll try to give them my best on the pitch.”
