Grzegorz Krychowiak says he is enjoying life at Sevilla but admits the club are a stepping stone towards bigger and better things.
The Polish midfielder has wasted little time in becoming an integral part of Unai Emery's plans at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan following a summer transfer from Reims, and he believes the Andalusians' pursuit of the Champions League is currently enough to cater for his ambitious nature.
"I needed to change club and became much more ambitious," he began in an interview with AS today.
"Each year, I want to be playing in Europe, and the goal is to be in the Champions League. This objective is what made me join Sevilla.
"There's a group of great players here, but mostly there are good people and that's what's important to get results. The team spirit is what makes the strength of Sevilla.
"It is a club who, each year, see three or four top players leave but nonetheless always keep up. The strength of Sevilla is not their stars, nor their individuality, but their group.
"Work is key. We are in the top four as a result, but we mustn't be content because I think we can go further. I don't care about finishing third or fourth right now. We have to be ambitious, the goal is to play in the Champions League next season.
"I only look at the results of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico. It's difficult to compare with them because they're three great teams, but we can always give more.
"In life you have to be ambitious and this club are. We don't talk about fighting for the title because there are two very strong teams, but we can finish third.
"[Unai] Emery prepares for matches in a way which everything has to be 100 percent. Ahead of each game, he gives us the necessary information so we can win.
"He is charismatic and talks a lot. He concentrates on small details and hard work and is the key to the success of this team. He's not yet satisfied with the team's achievements.
"When I changed club, I knew I made a step forward. Emery places strong emphasis on strategy and tactics. During the match, everything must work perfectly. I learn a lot every day, there is progress.
"Sevilla are a great club, but also a club from which you can make the jump to highest level. If you're good at Sevilla, many sides become interested in you because there are always many opportunities to impress."
