Joaquin Caparros said he was relieved at seeing his Granada team reach the last 16 of the Copa del Rey and set up an Andalusian derby with Sevilla.
Granada were protecting a 1-0 lead from the home leg against Cordoba but saw Florin Andone level things with just five minutes played at El Arcangel.
However, a Diego Mainz strike on the hour mark, which not many in the stadium saw due to heavy mist, proved enough for Granada to progress to the next round, leaving Caparros looking forward to the tie against Unai Emery’s men.
“We didn’t do enough to prevent their first goal and I didn’t see ours because I couldn’t make out the other side of the pitch,” admitted Caparros to reporters post-match.
“I was relieved we went through because I want to do well in this competition and it is an important one.
“We must now go into our next game with more confidence,” he affirmed.
