Liverpool have reportedly agreed a €4m deal with Malaga for goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa to replace Simon Mignolet in January.
Mexican international Ochoa was one of the stars of last summer’s World Cup in Brazil and joined the Costa del Sol outfit from Ajaccio immediately afterwards.
However, he has been unable to dislodge Carlos Kameni from the No 1 spot at La Rosaleda and the Daily Express claims he will join the Anfield giants in the next transfer window.
The 29-year-old had been linked with a switch to Arsenal, but Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers appears to have stolen a march on his Premier League rivals and convinced him his future lies at Anfield.
Rodgers told Mignolet he had been dropped indefinitely ahead of Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United, preferring to give deputy Brad Jones his opportunity, while the newspaper maintains that significantly Ochoa started following the Merseyside club on Twitter the same day.
