Toni Kroos has acclaimed Germany’s 1-0 friendly win over Spain in Vigo
The Real Madrid midfielder scored a late winner to down Vicente del Bosque’s team, and he believes the Euro 2016 qualifier loss to Poland and the draw with Republic of Ireland are now out of the system.
“We lost against Poland but didn’t play badly. We are a good team,” Kroos told AS.
“What’s good is that this win over Spain has put the finishing touch to a great year, which it has been for Germany in 2014.
“Even so, we said before this game it wouldn’t change the year for us. We won the World Cup.
“I think the system we employed in Vigo we won’t be using anymore, although in the second half we had a lot of possession of the ball, which is how we like it.
“We stood up to Spain, who are a great national team.”
Kroos believes the victory over La Roja has restored the players’ faith in the squad.
“This win reasserted us as a group. We were very good, especially defensively, and didn’t allow the Spanish players to play.
“Personally, it was nice to get the goal. I controlled the ball outside the area, decided to shoot, and it went in,” he summed up.
