Victor Fernandez couldn’t fault Deportivo La Coruna as Valencia’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end at Riazor.
Deportivo beat Los Che 3-0 with a Gaya own goal and goals from Lucas Perez and Toche.
Speaking after the final whistle, Fernandez paid tribute to the Depor players, not only for the match itself but their work in the week before.
“When you win 3-0 against a great team you have to do everything right,” he said, Marca reports.
“We trained very well and developed a fantastic game plan.”
Deportivo had previously suffered four straight defeats and were bottom of the League at kick-off, but Fernandez believes his side can push on from here.
“The team has a great capacity for self-criticism,” he noted.
“Every win boosts confidence and makes us stronger for the future. The three points go towards avoiding relegation.
“We were brave and the first half was spectacular. We were in a good state with an outlet. We were more forceful and we played football, a lot of football.
“Lucas is a player I particularly like because he fits in with what I want. He’s mischievous but has an angel.
“We worked for 15 days to become real beasts. I can’t forget to thank the group. People will talk about the 14 who played but I also credit the bench and the behaviour we’ve seen.”
