Juan Bernat enjoyed a dream debut for Spain, netting the fourth goal in the 4-0 win over Luxembourg.
Bernat entered the match as a second half substitute and got off the mark thanks to an assist by fellow debutant Rodrigo Moreno.
“It’s a dream debut for me,” the Bayern Munich left-back said, according to AS.
“I’m very happy with my debut for the senior team and for my goal.
“I felt very comfortable in this group thanks to Paco Alcacer. There are a lot of new, young players who can do well and help the team, as we’re seeing. David De Gea is a goalkeeper at a great level.”
Bernat expanded on Alcacer, his former Valencia teammate, and says his prolific form isn’t a surprise to anyone who knows him.
“I’ve known him since we were in the youth team together. He’s a killer in front of goal,” Bernat added regarding Alcacer.
“He arrives, he shoots, and it’s not in vain as he’s shown in the early season with Valencia and with the national team, with three goals in the three qualifiers.”
