Ferrer: Cordoba win is coming

Albert Ferrer believes Cordoba are getting close to their first Primera win of the season as the team is working well in training.

Los Blanquiverdes have picked up only two points from their first five games and meet Espanyol in the sixth on Sunday.

“We need a victory to reward the work the players are doing,” Ferrer is quoted as saying by Marca.

“I’m convinced the first victory can be against Espanyol. But confidence without intensity can’t be anyone.

“We’ve realised the only way to go forward is to work from first to last, to run and fight. If we can match our opponent’s intensity, then we have a team that can play football.

“Then we can beat anybody. No team in modern football can be successful without working.”

Ferrer also offered an apology to the Cordoba fans for their start to the season, and called for the support to endure.

“I have to say sorry for the early season because the fans have been there from the start and will be,” he added.

“We have to stay close together to get another year in the Primera, so we can make a stronger team and a stronger club. This isn’t the time to be nervous.”
