Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling, according to the Mirror.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has been keeping tabs on the England international recently and could be plotting a raid next summer following some impressive displays.
The Spanish giants have been alerted to Sterling’s situation on Merseyside with the news that the Reds are yet to tie him down to a long-term agreement
It is understood the 19-year-old is currently on £30,000-a-week at Anfield, making him one of the lowest paid players in boss Brendan Rodgers’ squad, and was in line for an improved contract after forcing his way into England’s World Cup squad in the summer.
However, Liverpool appear to be dragging their heels over the issue, with Rodgers insisting last month that Sterling must wait for any new offer.
“When you reward young players too quickly you give them too much too early and that could be their downfall. It’s a big problem because they lost their hunger for the game,” he commented.
