Villarreal have been dealt a blow with the news that Giovani Dos Santos will be sidelined for up to a month.
The Mexican striker was injured whilst playing for his country in the 0-0 draw with Chile on Saturday night and immediately returned to Spain for tests.
According to the club’s official website, these have confirmed that the 25-year-old has torn a hamstring and in all probability will not return until October, during which time he is set to miss the home games with Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid as well as trips to Granada and Eibar.
Dos Santos joins Bojan Jokic on the injured list after the Slovenian defender underwent knee surgery on Tuesday, while Ikechukwu Uche and Jaume Costa are also out.
