Deportivo la Coruna boss Victor Fernandez claims he is now satisfied with the squad assembled at Riazor for the 2014-15 campaign.
A frantic last day of the transfer market saw winger Juanfran brought in on loan from Real Betis and striker Helder Postiga captured on one-year deal from Valencia, additions Fernandez says he is delighted with.
“I am very satisfied. There were numerical and quality issues and hopefully this gives us that little bit extra,” the 53-year-old told assembled media.
“It is the squad that we wanted when you take into account all the possibilities and we’ve gone for the type of players we didn’t have before.
“Postiga is a guy with a lot of presence, competitive and hardworking, and is a great finisher, while Juanfran will strengthen us because he is very dynamic and has a lot of energy. He was one of the revelations of La Liga last season.”
Fernandez also acknowledged that the signing of central defenders Sidnei and Modibo Diakite was a key aspect in his planning for this season.
“The team needed more size. Both will help us in this respect and also enrich us tactically. Sidnei is good at coming out of defence with the ball, while Diakite is strong, fast and has a lot of presence. He can even play at right-back,” explained Fernandez.
