Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his only friend in football is former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Portugal international spent six years under the Scotsman tutelage at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2009, winning eight trophies in that time.
And the Ballon d’Or winner has admitted that he’s not in the game to make friends.
“The only friendship that I have with my former coaches is with Ferguson, with no one more,” he told TVI.
“I had a good relationship with Pellegrini, and Ancelotti also, with whom I get along very well.
“I’m not in football to have friends. I am here to succeed.”
Ronaldo then conceded that Jose Mourinho’s spell as Real Madrid boss was a difficult time for the club and for him personally.
“There was a bad atmosphere. It was a difficult phase in personal terms and the club.
“There were situations that were happening with other players, also with the fans.”
