Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has taken to Twitter to wish Angel Di Maria well at Manchester United.
Rumours have gathered pace that the Argentina midfielder is bound for Old Trafford and former Liverpool midfielder Alonso has put aside club rivalry to offer Di Maria encouragement in the Premier League.
“Thanks for everything [Di Maria]! I wish you the best, even at Man Utd,” he wrote on the social networking site.
“Never forget the zig zag in extra time in Lisbon.”
Marcelo added through his account that he will always be close to his soon-to-be-former teammate.
“Thank you for everything you have done for Madrid. You’re my big brother, I love you,” was the left-back’s message.
