Sergio Ramos has said he had no problem battling Mario Mandzukic during Real Madrid’s 1-1 Supercopa de Espana draw with Atletico Madrid.
The pair were booked for a second half clash when Mandzukic challenged for a high ball and wiped out the Spain international.
Ramos responded by lashing out at the Croatia striker while they were both down but speaking to reporters post-match, Ramos welcomed the struggle.
“He is a great player who made it hard for me and the great duels are beautiful,” AS reports Ramos as saying.
Ramos also gave his thoughts on Raul Garcia’s goal, a late effort from a set piece that cancelled out James Rodriguez’s opener.
“He walks from the first post to the second. It’s a silly mistake,” Ramos admitted.
He was also asked about Angel Di Maria, who entered the match as a second half substitute despite reports saying he wants to quit the club.
“It’s not for me to recommend anything, we live in a democratic country,” Ramos replied.
“He knows what it is to be out of Madrid and what it is to be in Madrid.
“I don’t think Di Maria’s intention is to leave because you sign here for life.”
