Barcelona are in the market for a right-back and as well as Juan Cuadrado and Lukasz Piszczek, Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran is on the list.
Sport reports that Luis Enrique already has two players for every position – with Dani Alves and Martin Montoya his right-backs – but Alves’ future is uncertain and regardless of what happens with the Brazil international, a right-sided defender will be signed.
Cuadrado remains Barca’s first-choice but a combination of interest from Manchester United and Fiorentina’s demands over the price has led to alternatives being considered.
Borussia Dortmund’s Piszczek and Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran are behind Cuadrado in Barca’s preferred target list but both fit the profile of right-back desired by La Blaugrana.
Much like Cuadrado they are attack-minded players, former wingers, who can also pull their weight in defence.
Sport add that Barca would like to get the last year of Alves’ contract off the books but finding a buyer has been difficult, with only Italian giants Inter expressing a firm interest.
