New Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic has asked not to be compared with Diego Costa, who fired the club to last season’s title.
Mandzukic has given his first Press conference as an Atletico player after he was signed to replace the Chelsea-bound Costa, but insisted he and the Spain international are very different.
“Diego is Diego Costa. I’m Mandzukic. Everyone has their own way,” Marca reports the former Bayern Munich forward as saying.
“I’ll follow the instructions of my new Coach. I’m very happy to be at Atletico.
“I know the players and I’m convinced they are great players. I’m especially pleased by the Coach.
“I’m very happy that Diego Simeone is my new Coach. I know his football past and he has been a very good player, devoted to his team.
“He demonstrates the same as Coach, living football 100%. We’re quite similar.”
