Atletico Madrid could use Benfica’s interest in Joshua Guilavogui and Emiliano Insua to get Nico Gaitan at a lower price.
AS report that this week will prove pivotal to the futures of a number of Atletico players, with Filipe Luis expected to complete his move to Chelsea.
Guilavogui and Insua could also depart and Benfica is a likely destination for both of them. Guilavogui wanted to stay at Atletico but was convinced to move to Benfica on loan after speaking with the Portuguese club.
Insua meanwhile isn’t expected to get much game time with the champions next season but could be a regular at Benfica.
Cristian Ansaldi is in line for a move to Vicente Calderon and he would provide back-up at left-back to Guilherme Siqueira once Filipe Luis is gone and Insua is in Portugal.
Ansaldi would also cover right-back with Javi Manquilo to be loaned to Arsenal, while Benfica goalkeeper Jan Oblak is also expected to join.
Atletico want Gaitan’s versatility and should Insua and Guilavogui make the move, the transfer of the Argentine becomes easier to complete, AS say.
Guilavogui had been close to accepting an offer from Wolfsburg as he isn’t in Diego Simeone’s plans.
