Bayern Munich have confirmed Mario Mandzukic is to leave this summer, with the striker strongly linked to Atletico Madrid.
SportYou report Matthias Sammer, Bayern’s sporting director, as revealing talks have been held between the clubs and the Germans expect the deal to go through.
“It still hasn’t been signed but there is a verbal agreement between Bayern and Atletico, and between Mario and Atletico,” Sammer said.
“I think you can trust the word of Atletico and we can report a transfer. Mandzukic has always been of exemplary behaviour. I can only say positive things about him.”
Mandzukic is to be the replacement for Chelsea-bound Diego Costa, with a fee of €22m mooted by Mundo Deportivo.
MD add that the transfer could be announced later this week, with Mandzukic joining up with his new teammates early next week.
