Espanyol warn Madrid over Casilla

Real Madrid have been told by Espanyol that they risk missing out on getting a fee for Kiko Casilla unless the player’s situation changes this summer.

AS report that Madrid own 50% of the goalkeeper, a product of the Madrid cantera, and Espanyol President Joan Collet confirmed talks have taken place regarding Casilla’s future.

Casilla’s Espanyol contract expires next summer and he isn’t keen on signing a new one, which means he could quit the Catalans for free – and Madrid would miss out of their cut of the fee.

It’s been suggested that Casilla could return to Santiago Bernabeu and Collet revealed they clubs have spoken.

“We’ve talked to them at different times and in one of them they had no clear position, and since then we’re still waiting,” Collet said.

“The [50%] clause was imposed by Madrid and we understand it because we would do the same if it was Espanyol.

“But we all run the risk that next year the sale is lost and in this case, Madrid run the risk of losing their share.”

Collet also confirmed strong interest in Felipe Caceido, insisted Christian Stuani wasn’t for sale and confirmed FIFA were paying compensation for the injury suffered at the World Cup by Hector Moreno, who fractured his tibia while representing Mexico.
