Guilermo Ochoa has become a candidate to join Barcelona as competition for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
Mundo Deportivo reports that while Claudio Bravo remains La Blaugrana’s first-choice, if a deal can’t be made for the Real Sociedad stopper, Ochoa could be the player Barca go for.
Ochoa fits the brief of what Barca are looking for in their second goalkeeping signing of the summer – he has experience of European football, although not La Liga, at 28 he is relatively young for a player in his position, and is available on a free transfer after leaving Ajaccio.
It’s also felt that Ochoa’s star power in his native Mexico would allow Barca to exploit commercial opportunities in the country.
Ochoa has experience of three years in France and more than 50 international caps. He has also been included in El Tri’s squad for the World Cup.
