Atletico Madrid are expected to loan new signing Angel Correa to Rayo Vallecano for next season.
AS reports that Atletico will send the teenager to Vallecas so he can spend a year acclimatising to La Liga without the pressure of playing for the champions.
Diego Costa was loaned to Rayo for part of the 2011-12 season before returning to Vicente Calderon and establishing himself in the side.
There is however a potential snag in the proposal to send Correa to Rayo. Despite now being an Atletico player, he will play for San Lorenzo in the Copa Libertadores, the South American Champions League.
FIFA regulations prevent players from being registered for three teams in the same season and the Libertadores is considered by FIFA to be part of the 2014-15 campaign.
That would preclude Correa from signing for Rayo as he will have already been registered to San Lorenzo and Atleti.
San Lorenzo are to write to the governing body to argue that the tournament is left over from last season, not part of the new season, and as such the rule should not apply to Correa.
It’s expected that the loan move will go ahead on that basis.
