Rakitic wants to win, not dream

Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic says he would prefer not to dream about winning the Europa League but instead concentrate on making it a reality.

The Rojiblancos are in Turin for tonight’s showpiece final against Benfica and, speaking at the pre-match Press conference, the Croatian highlighted the need for his team to enjoy the moment after a long run in the competition.

“Thanks to God that the importance of the matches has increased the further we have gone in the tournament,” Rakitic told the media.

“All the players worked hard to ensure we got to the final. It’s a great moment for us and we need to enjoy it to the maximum and take the positives that we can from it.

“I don’t want to dream about lifting the trophy, I want to live it. I’m not going to put pressure on the team though because we need to enjoy it.

“If we can get through the match I will be prepared to lift the trophy, but there is still one more tough match before that happens.

“I don’t care about being the hero, there’s no point in talking about heroes. Mbia wouldn’t have scored his goal without Fazio’s assist, for example. It’s been a long year but we have worked hard to earn the right to be in this match.

“We will do all we can to well in the match. We want to play a perfect match and enjoy it. Every player is of the same importance.

“We are at 100 per cent physically at this moment. There are good games and bad games, that’s normal.

“But we are going to be at a high level, we are going to prepare for this match well. We will be prepared and we want to play the game of our lives.”
