Sport has cited reports from the English Press that say Diego Costa’s move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea has already been completed.
The transfer will be confirmed following the Champions League final, the report claims, in which Atletico play Real Madrid having eliminated Chelsea this week.
Costa scored Atletico’s second goal at Stamford Bridge, converting a penalty in the 3-1 second-leg win. The first-leg ended goalless at Vicente Calderon.
Chelsea will allegedly pay €40m for the Brazil-born Spain international, while Costa will be paid €4m per year.
It’s claimed the deal was done after the match between the sides on Wednesday and Fernando Torres could leave Chelsea for a return to Atletico as part of the move.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had made Costa his No.1 target for a new striker and, having clinched the signing, will now allow Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o to leave for new clubs.
