Javi Martinez would be willing to leave Bayern Munich for Barcelona, although no approach has yet been made, reports have claimed.
Mundo Deportivo says that Martinez wouldn’t have a problem returning to Spain and was close to joining Barca before he went to Bayern in 2012.
Martinez has a number of friends at Barca from the Spain national team but there have been no negotiations between the clubs.
The former Athletic Bilbao player has however suggested in the past that Barca would be a hard club to turn down should he receive an offer from La Blaugrana.
Martinez could also be swayed by the change in Coach at the Bavarian club as he is not the regular choice under Pep Guardiola that he was when Jupp Heynckes was in charge.
But he is said to be happy at Bayern regardless, although the chance to return to Spain with his family is one he would welcome, the report adds.
The potential transfer might also be complicated by Martinez’s past experience of speaking with Barca, when he was waiting for an offer to come as he left Athletic and, by the time it did, he had already agreed to go to Munich.
Martinez is understood to be happy to remain in Germany but by the same token, should an offer come from Barca that is acceptable to Bayern, he will make the move to Camp Nou.
