Villarreal midfielder Cani has revealed that despite returning to training he is doesn’t know when he’ll play again.
The 32-year-old hasn’t played since the end of November and while he insists his knee is much better, he still suffers from discomfort.
“It’s not entirely forgotten,” Cani told AS.
“I’m training normally and I’ve gone several days without inconvenience but I still have some fear.
“They say recovery should be gradual and it’s going well, but I just have to wait.”
Cani added that he has no idea if he’ll be available for the Yellow Submarine this weekend.
“Every Sunday I think I’ll play. It’s something I want to happen now.
“It’s not going fast, but gradually. Every day I do more, I feel more loose and more secure.
“Maybe I could play this weekend if the team needed me, but now I just think day to day.”
It’s not thought Cani will have to undergo surgery and that, he admitted, is a relief.
He also thanked fans for their well wishes during a difficult time.
“This is something that has been there and has had me very worried, so I’m calmer now.
“I notice every day the love and support from around the world, when everyone asked how I was and cared for me.”
