Real Madrid assistant Zinedine Zidane has admitted that compatriot Franck Ribery may have been hard done by in the Ballon d’Or.
The French winger finished third in the voting for the FIFA prize this year, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
And the Blancos Coach has claimed that the Bayern Munich man may have been unfortunate.
“We won’t scream that it’s a scandal,” he told Canal +. “But Franck, for what he did last season, certainly deserved something.
“The difference is that Cristiano scored 69 goals.
“Today there are three criteria for winning an award – what the player does for his club, his image and what he does individually.
“We have to clarify this, because, for me, the award should just be on what the player does on the pitch.
“Franck was outstanding, but to score 69 goals is incredible.”
