Athletic Bilbao do not expect to lose midfielder Ander Herrera during the winter transfer window.
Manchester United attempted to sign Herrera in the summer by triggering his release clause, but the complications of the deal meant the Premier League champions ran out of time.
Herrera’s buyout clause currently stands at €36million but is to rise to €40million at the end of the season.
Sky Sports claims that Athletic are aware of United’s continued interest in the player but the club are confident of retaining Herrera for the foreseeable future.
“We know people are looking but the situation has not changed,” a source told the broadcaster.
“Ander has us that he does not want to leave the club in this moment.”
Sky also point to comments made by Herrera to Basque newspaper Diario Vasco. “I am happy in Bilbao, and I want to help the club improve this season,” the 24-year-old said.
