Cagliari have explained why they have picked up former Real Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old this week completed formalities on a move to the Sardinian outfit, following on from his late summer release by Madrid.
Cagliari’s sporting director Nicola Salerno has today explained exactly why the club went for Adan.
“We had this opportunity and, with [regular No 1] Michael Agazzi’s injury, we opted to take it,” the official commented to today’s edition of the Corriere dello Sport.
“Adan was a free agent and can thus play straight away – especially as Agazzi has expressed a desire to move to another club.”
