Pepe Reina has backed Napoli teammate Jose Callejon to make a late break for the Spain squad for next summer’s World Cup.
The 26-year-old has impressed at the Stadio San Paolo this season since a summer switch from Real Madrid and his fellow Spaniard believes he could be an outsider for a seat on the plane to Brazil next summer.
“Callejon is performing great with Napoli,” considered Reina to Sky Sport Italia this week.
“For this reason, and because of where he plays on the pitch, I won’t exclude the fact that he could become useful to the national team again ahead of the World Cup.”
The goalkeeper considered Napoli’s start to the season.
“Napoli are playing well as a whole. We are not that far behind a Roma side who are having a great season by virtually winning all of their games.
“We have to just continue on this road and we’ll certainly go far.”
