Casillas: Save changed the final

Iker Casillas has been reminiscing about his save that kept Spain in the World Cup final three years’ ago.

The captain saved a one-on-one from Arjen Robben in Johannesburg in 2010, and as La Roja travel back to Soccer City for a game against South Africa on Tuesday, the goalkeeper has reflected on that stop.

“Three years’ later, I watch that I see how I excited I was when I saved that shot from Robben,” he told reporters.

“That could have changed the course of the final, but I was fortunate to get my right toe to it!

“These five years' have been the best in Spain’s history, and we all realise that we’ve played our part.

“Whenever I walk down the street, people stop to thank me for what we’ve done.

“I’ve been the captain of the team, but this is the work of a lot of people. I pick up the trophy, but that’s thanks to a lot of others.”
