Damian Suarez has urged his Elche teammates to ‘remain a brave team’ as they look for a first ever away win against Athletic Bilbao.
The Alicante outfit head out to the Basque Country to face opponents that have never lost to them at home and that are yet to lose in their new stadium this season.
“At San Mames points will be hard to come by because, amongst other things, they have not lost at home, but we are going there to compete and look for the victory. It would be nice to win away to Athletic for the first time and it would also be nice to be the first team to win at the new San Mames.
“We are very good and very strong. There is little point in looking back [to Saturday’s defeat to Granada], the team are optimistic and thinking about the game on Thursday.
“These are three important points and that we have never won there is an extra motivation.
“Athletic at San Mames pressure you throughout the game. Moreover, they are a good team that exploits the wings and set-pieces well.
“Whilst the opponent is difficult, we really want to win the game. We all know of the opponent and we will have to play our game, as we always do, we will not change the way we play, we must remain a brave team.”
