Xabi Prieto has reflected on Real Sociedad’s difficulty in adapting to regular midweek matches, as he considers what victory against Barcelona would mean.
La Real travel out to the Catalans for Tuesday night’s fixture in indifferent form in both La Liga and the Champions League.
“It is not the best field for us to recover at, because Barca are a very difficult team, but we want to play a good game and to complicate things for them,” Prieto reflected to reporters this week.
“We want to reach the end of the match competitive and if we cannot win, at least bring home a point. The three points would give us a lot of morale.”
Real are three games without having scored a goal and are yet to win this September.
“The result [against Malaga] was fair, we did not play our best game and when you cannot when, it is best to at least get some points.
“We are not always going to score four goals, it is clear that we are currently struggling to find the way to goal, but we must also note that we have so far recorded five clean sheets.
“I am sure that we will create chances and problems for opposing defences. It is true that the team are finding it difficult to adapt to the dynamics of playing Sunday-Wednesday-Sunday , but I remain convinced that we will end up being used to it, we will work for that.
“It is clear that no-one is happy with our results, but we cannot be in a state of alert or worry too much, that would not be coherent for the month of September.”
