Reports in France have it that the newly returned Ligue 1 outfit, who have recruited significantly this summer from La Liga, are in for Atleti’s 25-year-old.
On from protracted talks over a contract renewal through the last year, it is widely understood in Spain that the winger has asked to leave the Vicente Calderon.
Whilst Roma have been linked in recent weeks, Monaco are believed to have edged ahead in negotiations on the final day of the transfer window, agreeing a provisional loan deal for the season.
However, it is understood that Atleti are unwilling to part with the player until they have first lined up a possible replacement.
