Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio says he will be ready for the season’s opening La Liga fixture at Almeria on Monday.
The Argentine international, signed from River Plate in August 2009, suffered a knee injury in the friendly with Fiorentina last week, but has assured fans he is fully recovered and raring to go.
“The last few days have gone very well and I’ve not had any pain, so I’m available to play. I’m really looking forward to the start of the new season,” Musacchio told a Press conference.
“We’ve faced Almeria a lot in a short space of time, so we know they are a tough opponent to beat at a ground that is difficult to go to.
“We expect them to play it tight but we are going there to win and do well.”
Asked about his new teammate at the heart of the defence, Brazilian signing Gabriel Paulista, Musacchio explained that he does not know him and has only seen him play on videos via the internet,
