Barcelona have apparently drawn up a list of three Premier League based centre-backs to target in this summer’s transfer window.
The Catalans have been seen as entering this market ready to strengthen in defence, having primarily targeted Thiago Silva.
However, with the trail for the Brazilian having gone cold, attention has reportedly turned at the Camp Nou to his international colleague, David Luiz.
Mundo Deportivo today reiterate reports from earlier this week suggesting that the 26-year-old is the club’s primary objective.
The Catalan publication also add that Barca have Luiz as top of a list of three primary objectives to target for centre-back.
On from the Chelsea defender apparently comes Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen, in that order.
Seen as the result of discussions between sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and new Coach Gerardo Martino, the reputed list of decided targets also apparently has a fourth option of Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen and a fifth in Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany.
With this shortlist apparently now decided, Barca are seen this week as accelerating negotiations with Luiz, which are believed to have already been in existence for the past two weeks.
