Bernd Schuster has once more reflected on the ‘new stage’ that Malaga have entered into, and admitted concerns with his attack.
Alongside bringing in the Coach to replace Manuel Pellegrini, the club are undergoing extensive renovation of playing staff, with a number of notable exits matched with low-cost, young players being brought in.
“It is true that there have been three great years here, it has been a special time for the club,” began Schuster to reporters today.
“Now, wherever you go, they will know who Malaga is and who plays there, but now a new stage begins, we will see something different, but with all the doors open, let’s see where we end up.
“Let’s see if we can return to those beautiful moments of last year, that’s our goal.
“Preseason so far? I’m very happy with the attitude of the players. Everyone is looking for a place in the team and we can have no complaints.”
The German admitted, though, that the team still has a certain aspect on which to improve and that Bartlomiej Pawlowski’s arrival alludes to.
“We must work on the subject of attack. We must do some things. The problem is not the No 9, but those around him.
“It is something that we are not doing well. I want Roque to have six chances and if he only manages two, then I worry, but it’s not his fault, because there are not those around him as I would like.
“That’s where we have to work, to have more presence and imagination in attack.
“Pawlowski? I have watched him for a year, but I first wanted to see what we had here because I like to sign players who can do better than those already at a club and I did not want to close the door to anyone.
“He can help with his characteristics, playing around the area.”
