Karl Heinz-Rummenigge has played down the rift between Barcelona and Pep Guardiola following the former Barca boss’s comments last week.
Instead, the Bayern Munich President attempted to focus on the ‘mutual respect’ and ‘friendly relations’ he says exists between the Bundesliga giants and their Spanish counterparts.
“We feel a great mutual respect. As far as I know [Barca President] Sandro Rosell expressed his respect for Guardiola yesterday and I have not even addressed the issue with Pep,” he told reporters at Thiago Alcantara’s presentation.
“Barcelona and Pep had a fantastic time. I spoke to Sandro on the phone several times as Thiago’s deal was finalised. He has a great respect for Pep and Pep has great respect for Barca.
“We have always had friendly relations and I’d to think it will remain that way. Thiago’s signing was done quite correctly and what has happened will not be problem for anybody.
“This is also the spirit that will dominate next week’s friendly with Barcelona in Munich.”
