Bojan Krkic says he had no contact with Barcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta or boss Tito Vilanova before his move to Ajax.
Bojan has joined the Dutch club on loan following an unsuccessful spell in Serie A with Roma and Milan, a move he admits was a mistake, but claims he has not spoken to either since his return from a similar arrangement in Italy.
“I’ve not spoken to Zubizarreta or Tito,” Bojan told Cadena COPE’s Partido de las 12 programme, before claiming he would not have swapped his time at the Camp Nou for anything.
“I was very young when I started at Barcelona and everything went very quickly, but I’m proud of what I achieved and the times I had there. I’m only 22 so I’ve still got time to improve.
“Italy was a positive experience, although the football is very different and adapting wasn’t easy, but Ajax is a club that has always attracted me and I can identify with the mentality and football philosophy.”
The Spanish international also commented on the possibility that his progress with Barca had been halted because he faced competition from Lionel Messi to get into the team.
“When you have Messi ahead of you, someone who is the best player in the world, there is not much you can do about it, so you have to get used to another position and play out wide.”
Finally, he had words for former teammate Thiago Alcantara, who is on the verge of a move to Bayern Munich from Barcelona.
“It’s his decision and if he believes that he will get a better opportunity somewhere else then you have to respect that, you have to accept it,” Bojan limited himself to saying.
