Paris Saint-Germain are reported in Italy as having almost closed on a €63m deal to sign Edinson Cavani from Napoli.
The Uruguayan striker had been linked with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City in anticipation of a summer transfer, but it is PSG that have apparently taken the lead in the race.
The French club were reported as having entered the bidding earlier this week when sporting director Leonardo allegedly held a meeting with Cavani’s agent and, on from that, reports in Italy are that a deal is already close to being finalised.
Sky Sport Italia report that PSG will pay the player’s €63m buyout clause, which is at least €5m more than Chelsea were understood to be looking at.
Cavani is scheduled to meet with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis soon when he is expected to make clear his desire to leave the Stadio San Paolo outfit.
